- Thermowood is heat treated wood (usually from ash trees) to make it water resistant without the use of chemicals by caramalising the wood sugars, closing the pores of the wood and making lighter, harder and prevents it from shrinking. The heat treatment is an ancient practice using kilns, and the wood becomes immune to rot and mould.
- Exposure to UV light will turn the thermowood colour into a silvery hue.
